JAMB plans a UTME centre in Ottawa, Canada, with operations expected to begin in 2027.
- The proposed centre would serve eligible Nigerians in Canada and across North America.
- It would support candidates seeking admission to Nigerian tertiary institutions.
- JAMB says candidates could sit the examination without travelling to Nigeria solely for it.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans for a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) centre in Ottawa, Canada, expected to begin operations in 2027.
The proposed centre would serve eligible Nigerians in Canada and other parts of North America, particularly those seeking admission to Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Access to the UTME from North America
JAMB disclosed the plan on its official social media platforms following a visit by its Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa.
The board said the centre would make it easier for Nigerians abroad to sit the UTME without travelling to Nigeria solely for the examination.
JAMB described the proposal as part of its efforts to take Nigerian tertiary education to a wider international audience and strengthen links between Nigerians in the diaspora and the Nigerian education system.
Proposed start date
The board said it was working towards establishing the Ottawa centre, with operations expected to commence in 2027.
