Opay Opens Recruitment For Multiple Positions Across Nigeria

OPay Microfinance Bank, formerly known as BlueRidge Microfinance Bank, has announced recruitment for three positions across its marketing, public relations and field recovery operations.

The available positions are Events Manager, Field Collection Agent and Public Relations (PR) Strategist.

The vacancies are based in Lagos and nationwide, depending on the position, with application deadlines ranging from October 7 to December 31, 2026.

1. Events Manager

OPay is seeking an experienced marketer to join its Integrated Marketing and Communications team as an Events Manager.

The successful candidate will take ownership of OPay’s events function, covering the company’s external and business-led events as well as its participation in industry events across sectors.

The role requires a marketer with strong event management experience who can connect events to both brand and business objectives.

Responsibilities

The Events Manager will be responsible for:

– Linking every event to clear brand and business goals.
– Planning events within the annual events budget and measuring returns against costs.
– Developing event briefs covering objectives, audience, budget, timelines and key performance indicators.
– Planning and delivering OPay’s external events from concept development to post-event reporting.
– Managing events end to end, including guest lists, branding, logistics, run of show and on-site coordination.
– Working with sales, partnerships, brand, creative and PR teams to align events with broader business and campaign plans.
– Identifying relevant fintech, banking, retail, technology and SME industry events.
– Recommending events where OPay should participate, speak or sponsor.
– Managing OPay’s presence at conferences, expos and other industry events.
– Building relationships with event organisers and industry associations.
– Supporting integrated marketing campaigns, on-ground activations, BTL activities, partnerships and sponsorships.
– Preparing briefs for creative, content and production projects.
– Coordinating agencies and external partners.
– Preparing event budgets and managing vendors in line with procurement procedures.
– Maintaining accurate records of event expenditure.
– Preparing reports showing results against objectives, expenditure against budget and brand visibility.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

– 4–6 years of marketing experience, including at least three years focused on events, agency or in-house marketing.
– Experience delivering corporate or brand events for 300 or more guests.
– Experience managing a brand’s presence at industry events, conferences or expos.
– Broader marketing experience covering campaigns, activations, partnerships or brand projects.
– Ability to connect events and campaigns to business outcomes.
– Experience managing budgets and multiple vendors.
– Ability to work within formal approval and procurement processes.
– Strong written communication and reporting skills.
– Willingness to travel and work some evenings and weekends.

Experience in fintech, banking, FMCG or telecommunications will be an advantage.

A network of event organisers and industry contacts in Nigeria, experience with sponsorship deals or speaking-slot placements, and a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field are also desirable.

2. Field Collection Agent

OPay is also recruiting Field Collection Agents to manage delinquent loan accounts, conduct customer visits and recover outstanding repayments.

The successful candidates will be expected to reduce non-performing loans while maintaining professional and ethical relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities

The Field Collection Agent will:

– Visit residential and business locations of customers with overdue loan repayments.
– Engage customers directly and negotiate realistic repayment arrangements.
– Negotiate structured repayment plans or immediate settlements based on customers’ financial capacity.
– Meet or exceed daily, weekly and monthly recovery targets.
– Follow up with delinquent customers through phone calls, text messages and emails.
– Maintain accurate records of field visits, customer interactions, promises to pay and recoveries.
– Conduct spot checks and field investigations where necessary.
– Comply with applicable microfinance regulations, internal credit policies and ethical debt collection requirements.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

– OND, HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
– 1–2 years of experience in field recovery, debt collection, loan marketing or customer service, preferably with a microfinance bank or fintech lender.
– Good knowledge of local routes, commercial centres and communities within the assigned area.
– Strong negotiation and persuasive communication skills.
– High integrity, resilience and patience.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or loan management software.

3. Public Relations (PR) Strategist

Location: Lagos

OPay is seeking a Public Relations Strategist to develop and implement communications strategies aligned with the company’s business priorities.

Responsibilities

The PR Strategist will be expected to:

– Develop PR and communications strategies aligned with business objectives.
– Translate business priorities into communications strategies, campaigns and measurable PR programmes.
– Monitor public perception, media narratives and stakeholder sentiment.
– Identify emerging opportunities and reputational risks.
– Develop media engagement strategies across mainstream, business, broadcast, digital and industry media.
– Monitor emerging issues and provide early warnings on potential reputation risks.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have:

– Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
– 3–5 years of progressive experience in PR or communications.
– Demonstrable experience in reputation management and PR campaigns.
– Proven experience in crisis and issues management.
– Experience in financial services, fintech, technology, telecommunications or other highly regulated sectors is an advantage.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

– Ability to connect communications activities with broader business objectives.
– Strong understanding of the Nigerian media landscape and key media players.
– Established relationships with credible journalists and editors across relevant media sectors.
– Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
– Strong judgement when handling sensitive and fast-moving reputational issues.
